I am not a morning person. Unfortunately, my husband and children are. My children happen to be very, very early morning people. What this means for me is that I don’t have much brain power in the morning even with coffee. But things have to be done so I power on.
Every other morning involves getting Hayden on the bus. I don’t usually do this task because I am already at work but some days it is up to me to get him on the bus. Since I don’t do this very often, I can never remember when the bus comes. What usually happens is the morning is flowing along nicely and then I look up at the clock at its 7:36am.
This begins a total freak out on my part because the bus is suppose to come at 7:40am.
I begin yelling and screaming for Hayden to get his coat and shoes on. I try and unglue the little kids from the TV and push everyone towards to door so that we can drive Hayden to the bus stop.
But on this morning we were presented an other challenge. When Jeff came home the night, he parked the van very close to the house. This meant that the passenger side of the van was extremely difficult to get into. I had to actually walk on the crap that lines the side of the garage to be able to open the door to let the kids in.
This was something that I was not pleased with and the extra time it took time which made us even later getting to the bus stop.
I was very annoyed so while we waited for the bus I texted Jeff.
Jen: Were you trying to park the van in the dinning room? If so I think that you succeeded.
Jeff: Sorry, for some reason I ended up close.
Jen: That’s alright. I just wanted to give you sh*t.
Jeff: I can probably get even closer.
Jen: I would like you to try that. I just love climbing over crap to get into the van.
Jeff: Here’s an idea: driver’s side.
Jen: Actually, I just had that same thought.
Jeff: Wow. I saw a coffee cup, you have no excuse.
Jen: You may have seen the coffee but I didn’t drink it yet. So there.
Jeff: Hmm, would it not fit in the van? Let me guess, you couldn’t get it in the passenger side.
I stopped there because of my lack of coffee in the car, I had no brain power to come up with a witty response. I guess this is what I get for marring a total morning person.

You guys crack me up! I wish I could spend more time with you, so here’s a proposal. We have just started a new small group with come cool people from our new church. We would like to invite you. The husbands are meeting fortnightly from last Wednesday and the wives meet fortnightly from this coming Wednesday. We meet in a coffee shop, admittedly in Australia. If distance precludes you being there on Wednesdays at 7:30pm, that’s okay.

I am totally in! Let me just find someone willing to watch the kids for about four days so that we can make the trip.

He’s got you there! Too funny.

I would also be not happy at all. Hunter often parks the van so close that I can not get the kids into the car seats. But he’s got you!

I’m so not a morning person, and I don’t drink coffee…hate the stuff! I have to get a ice cold coke in me before I can function. My husband is totally a morning person and sometimes it just totally pisses me off how “chipper” he is when he wakes up! Lol

LOL. Thanks for the chuckle this morning as I sit hear sipping on my coffee. I used to be a morning person but after the kids, not so much…

I was just saying that my kid has been a morning person since the day we brought her home from the hospital. Which is exactly the opposite of yours truly. Regardless of where you get in the van, you have to get the kids in on the passenger side, right? Pain in the butt.

Actually, our van has sliding doors on both side so I totally could have used the driver’s side. But I am not going to let Jeff know. Shhhh, its our secret.

I’m a night person and a morning person, which makes me doubly annoying.
Is that a new header? I absolutely love love love it!

It’s hard enough getting my 8 year old out of bed, dressed and then WALKING down to the bus stop- forget trying to get loaded into my Explorer and DRIVING to the bus stop! (That task is saved for rainy days…..) And usually I don’t get my coffee until AFTER I get back home from walking to the bus stop- so there’s no hope!

Our garage is small. And by small, I mean SMALL. So many times I don’t park JUST RIGHT and have to put both boys in on the driver’s side, lean over the baby to buckle Tristan in. It’s annoying.

Yikes! What a nightmare morning! As for me, I usually end those conversations with “I am done talking to you now”.

So did you make it in time??
I am still working on being a morning person. No so good at it.

Yes, we did but only because the bus was late. Otherwise, Hayden would have missed it and then I would have had to drive to school in my PJ’s looking all fabulous.

It is because of my triplets that I have to have a job. Going to work 2 days a week is my saving grace.
And nice to meet you fellow, Welcomista. I will come by your place and give you a formal greeting soon.

LOL…I hate it when my husband has a point.
Are you ever worried that at some point your children will finally turn you into a morning person and right after that happens you’ll hit the teenage years when all they want to do is sleep and you’ll be wide awake at 6 a.m? That thought terrifies me.

Ha! I loved this post.
For the longest I thought I must be like the only mom who despises waking up early in the morning and goes around the house in zombie mode…
Good to know I’m not alone =)

Lol! I love the banter! I shared another story of yours with my husband this weekend and he totally cracked up. It was the “my a$$ is talking to me” story. Love when you extend “keeping it real” to the interactions between you and your husband!

Jeff is very quick on his feet in the morning, isn’t he? Love that you text back and forth! Tim and I text too…but only when we argue. It works better that way…no raised voices and I can curse at him without the kids hearing.

Better your husband than that wench that does it to me every. damn. time. at pre-school. I swear, I’m just a few short inches from handing my five year old my keys and having his practice his name on her mini-van.
Loving the new word press site. Congrats.

That’s really funny and much more intelligent than I could be that early in the morning. I’ve NEVER been a morning person. I was even in afternoon kindergarten because my mother figured it would just be easier.
I’m a new Welcomista, although I wasn’t able to leave comments on 6 of the blogs on my list. Something about the comment form that my computer apparently just doesn’t like. I hope this won’t preclude my participating in the welcoming group.
Cheers
