Do you remember when I told you about how Craig’s list kind of killed our new kitten after we only had him for five days?
I don’t think that I ever told you all about how that whole process ended.
We had wanted two cats and that is what we got for free and then when one cat died suddenly causing great emotional scaring on me for the sake of my children, we decided to go ahead and get another cat because before the cat that died was cold and in the ground the kids begged for a new one.
*whew, worse run on sentence ever*
Getting that new cat was a process, a process that I will never forget. I had to prepare myself to be judged, deemed cat worth and clean my house.
This process, well… I just had to write a letter to it and share it on Tonya’s site in her Letter’s for You meme.
Our new kitten dying suddenly had nothing on the whole new cat adption process… nothing.

Note to self: Tell the seniors who I am helping with their college applications that they ain’t seen nothing yet…just wait until they want a cat! Geesh.
Good… good… prepare them young.
I think it’s funny – anyone can have a child but gawd forbid you want to adopt a cat!! The paperwork and REFERENCES required up here is insane!! The irony on that is out of this world!
Hope this kitten works out better for you.

That is exactly my point. It’s a bit ridiculous. If I can have kids, then I am pretty sure I can have a cat.
And yes, we’ve had this one for about 6 months. He is great.
One of the main reasons I don’t have a pet is I’m too scared to enter the process and be told I’m not pet material. (It seems both quite embarrassing and inevitable.)
I would totally deem you pet worthy.
Wooooorrrd. We were going to go through a shelter, but it was SO insane – i stick with hitting up local farmland and driving until i see, “free kittens” signs. It’s NUTS. No, you can NOT come see my home, measure my backyard, and make me answer a questionaire and go before a Judge and swear we will not leave the animal for more than 45 min. a day for the rest of our lives. Holy crap.
The only reason I went through a shelter was because I wanted it to have it’s shots and a full health exam so that it had a less likely chance of dying. Other wise, I am all about the free kittens.
