Quick, Lets Go to the Store

by Jen on July 6, 2009

I am fortunate that I don’t often have to take my children shopping with me. Store are just not equipped to accommodate multiple young children, expect Costco but that is a different story. Usually by the time I get them all in the chart there is not enough remove left for anything else.

They all dislike riding in the cart and do their best to not. The protests are great and I just hold my breath that someone will not fall out.

But there is the rare occasion that I have to take them with me. There is just no getting around it. And for some reason when I have to take them with me, I am always in a hurry, I don’t have list to remind me what I needed to get and I always end up forgetting the item that we came to the store for in the first place.

I think that there is a reason for this. Maybe it lies my constant dialog while we are in the store.

“Hayden, don’t touch that.”

“Quinn stop hitting Jake.”

“Jake don’t pull Claire’s hair.”

“Hayden, where are you!”

“Hayden, walk with me please.”

“Sorry, excuse us.”

“Quinn sit down.”

“No Jacob, you must stay in the cart.”

“Hayden, don’t touch that.”

“Quinn stop pulling at that.”

“No, no Claire. You can’t throw Mommy’s keys on the floor.”

“Hayden, pay attention! Watch where you are going.”

“Sorry, excuse us.”

“Quinn sit down.”

“Jacob sit down.”

“Quinn stop hitting Claire.”

“No Claire you can’t have a hat.”

“No. No. No new toys.”

“You have to go the bathroom? Really? Didn’t you go before we left?”

“Hayden come here.”

“Sorry, excuse us.”

“Hayden don’t run.”

“Hayden don’t touch that!”

“Jacob and Quinn! Sit Down!!!!!”

“Hayden, get up off the floor.”

“Quinn, don’t hit.”

“Sorry, excuse him.”

“Hayden, don’t touch that.”

“That’s it we are done! We are going home!”

(sigh)

On this trip, we were suppose to get diapers. You do think that diapers came home or even made it into the cart?

Nope.
