All of these electronic things are wonderful. And I am very much in love with each and every one of them. It doesn’t really matter that we don’t actually own an iPad, I still love and want it.

These gadgets are embedded in our lives and frankly, I don’t want to live life without them.

If I didn’t have my smart phone or computer, I would die. And the same thing goes for my son. If the DS and Wii were just to go away, I am sure that from the moment my son found out his head would explode. His poor little head just couldn’t take the news.

What can I say, we are a very technology friendly family.

But there is a problem with all this technology, it keeps people apart. We are all off in our own little worlds playing with our gadgets and not interacting or paying attention to each other.

So that is why there are some times that you just need to say STOP!

It is difficult at first to put up the computer, phone and DS. There may even be shakes involved or crying, weeping and nashing of teeth. But with all the technology out of the picture, we can actually see each other.

For example, I can notice that Hayden lost another tooth. Jeff can see that for about three months, I am no longer a blond and have changed my hair color to black.  And we all notice that the triplets are not babies and really shouldn’t be strapped into infant carriers anymore.

Once we stop playing with our gadgets and get over the shocking of seeing each other, we need something to do. Let’s face it just staring at each other is not my idea of fun.

We need something that will help us bond as a family and make us work together as a team. Something that will teach us how to take turns and be good sports. Something that will make us laugh.

Que: LEGO Board games.

  1. My son loves Peck board games..it is a fourth of his Christmas list! :)

  2. Loved your video! Fun to see your whole family together. Hayden looks so big!

  3. it’s exactly how you said it, we all get our faces out of our electronics and spend time together! ha!

  4. We have Minotaurs and Creationary and they are really inventive and fun. I like how they encourage you to make up your own rules for the games too!

  5. I think I might vomit from that video….ha!

  6. Oooh board games! Card games work great too… We have a Lego game and I love how the kids find new ways to play it so everyone builds. Though trying to figure out what my younger daughter built without her telling can be very challenging.

  7. I absolutely love Yahtzee and all sorts of board games. It doesn’t seem like families sit around a play games with each other as much as they use to. That is one of my favorite things about the holidays, families really spend time with each other and the board games make an appearance at the family table :).

  8. We love to play “Guesstures,” which is like charades, but faster. We always end up laughing; great fun!

  9. i *think* my comment worked. crossing fingers! would LOVE this prize!!

  10. We have anther Lego board game that I’m not too fond of but that one looks better and more fun. Loved watching y’all play together. :-)

  11. I have a nephew that would love to get this for Christmas. My BIL tried to get us to play board games when he first joined the family, and while they are fun, we just couldn’t get into them. Maybe we should try again now that the kids are old enough to play by themselves!

  12. Fun!! I love Legos. I love board games! I could not imagine a better combo! Both our girls are Lego builders and our oldest has started to play Candyland and Go Fish. I imagine this would appeal to her as well. And if not? Dad and I can play til they are bigger. :)
