Can I Use Your Video Camera?

“What in the world are you doing?” I asked Hayden as I walked into the living.

Hayden was holding a the cat and flying him around the room. The cat was of course not pleased with his current situation and was wiggling like mad to try and get free. This was topped off by Quinn squealing at the top of his lung which sounded like an annoying whistle you’d want to crush with your foot, put in the garbage disposal and then throw into the sea.

“Mom, we are making a movie and Pippin is the star. He’s Super Cat!,” Hayden said.

I then noticed that his DS was sitting on the edge of the coffee table. Hayden was not at all even close to being in frame while flying the cat around the room.

“That’s cool,” I said, “but buddy, you kinda need to stand in front of the camera so that it can see you to record you.”

He giggled and immediately stuck the cat’s head at the DS camera which gave the cat the opportunity to finally escape leaving Quinn to scramble after him.

“Is this that what you meant?” Hayden asked.

“Um, yeah… something like that,” I said.

I left the room so the kids could play but I couldn’t help but smile. They had watched me make movies and obviously wanted to try and be the YouTube star that I was.

Then I laughed and laughed at myself because I am so not a YouTube star.

Hayden, interrupted my internal joke and asked, “Mom, can I use your bideo camera? I wanna make a Mario movie.”

And I ask you, being the blogger (and vlogger) that I am, how could I refuse him?

Here it is the movie that Hayden made. The concept is his, the script is his, the filming is his.

I did the editing. I took the 38 minutes worth of footage, watched it all and well… Let’s just say, I now know what the editors of reality TV shows go through.

And now, Hayden’s remake of Paper Mario: Sticker Star*

  11. I don’t envy you on editing. How do you decide what to keep or cut when they worked so hard? He’s pretty comfortable on camera so he could become a YouTube star yet!
